The Visigoths kingdom
Visigoths defeated Valente, the Emperor of the Eastern Roman Empire at Adrianopolis ( 378) and move around the Eastern Europe. The escaped from the Huns ( asiatic steppes people ) . They reached Italy and plundered Rome. At last they settled in Spain .
The Visigothic kingdom extended over the former Roman province of Spain and Gaul until the beginning of the 6th century when the Franks defeated them and were expelled from the Gaul.
Then the Visigoths made of the Iberian peninsula their main territory and defeated other Germanic peoples like the Suevi, the Vandals and the Alans from de Iberian peninsula .
Toledo was their capital and during the 6th and the 7th century the Visigothic kingdom grew up and became a powerful kingdom . Its kings adopted the christianity as oficial religion ( first arianism and afterwards when Recaredo was the king catholicism became the official religion).
At the beginning of the 8th century the kingdom disappeared with the Muslim invasion (711) afterwards a lot of fightings among noblemen .
